The advisers are fictional.
You are Mao Tse-tung. It is May 1970, and you are faced with a decision that could be crucial to your nation's future. Months ago, your representatives began secretly meeting with envoys of the United States. U.S. President Richard Nixon appears eager to pursue the relationship, but at the same time he has escalated the Vietnam War by invading Cambodia. You have denounced this incursion, and many of your close aides want to punish the United States by closing the door to future negotiations. Others want to continue the dialogue, partly to bring pressure on the Soviet Union -- which has arguably been a greater threat to Beijing than Washington since the Sino-Soviet split escalated into a recent series of border clashes. What do you do?
