SIMCOE, Ontario (AP) -- Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is probing the death of a man who collapsed after a confrontation in which provincial police officers used a Taser on him.
Officers responded to a call Monday about a man causing a disturbance in southwestern Ontario's Norfolk County, SIU spokesman John Yoannou said Tuesday.
The officers were confronted by Jeffrey Mark Marreel, whom the SIU described as combative.
A Taser was used to subdue Marreel, and he was taken into custody.
He was transported to the Simcoe, Ontario, provincial police station, where he collapsed, the SIU said.
The 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at Norfolk General Hospital.
Yoannou said an autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.
The incident occurred days after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced it would restrict Taser use.
